And this was just the beginning

new prints coming

My day started off pretty terrible. Worried about my friend (thanks for the supportive words BTW) and then feeling like I got kicked myself not good. I felt like dirt emotionally pretty early on but since blee was being so good instead of wasting away and feeling sorry for myself I dove headfirst into art.

It started with some woodblock printing. The neat thing about this image is that for all these prints I used just one piece of newsprint carefully folded after each run through the press. And then I used that piece of newsprint + one paper towel for cleanup.

Passion

She Dances

Took a break. Went for a walk in the light rain with blee bundled up in our fleece pouch and her raspberry gnome hat by Rachel-Marie and hoofed it to the Library to use the photocopier. Detoured on the way back to 7- Eleven for some Lemonheads.

Gocco time! Printing on the usual bits of dictionary and other book pages, pretty papers and for the first time on top of woodblock prints that weren't ACEOs. These were two that something was missing from and the colorful and whimsical Gocco design really finished them off. I'm really falling head over heels in love with my Gocco printer at this point. Too bad I am out of bulbs now and will have to make an order soon. I think I may delay it a bit to force myself to use the designs I have already burned. And to cut up more of the paper I have printed and in a folder. I'm pretty stocked except for bulbs.
Dragon Fly!

Party House

I guess I am proud of myself for using a negative to motivate myself instead of pull me down into a pit like I am known to do. In total I have over twenty new pieces including the ACEOs and not including the printed papers for collage. This is probably the most single productive day I have had since before blee was born.

More rain expected so expect more creation Thursday. Most likely some collage.

Tonight we finally get to watch No Country for Old Men. This is how it is for parents having to wait and wait for things to come out on DVD. We are both huge Cohen brothers fans and it sounds like this one could rival or even surpass Miller's Crossing from years ago.

Have a great evening and an even better Thursday. See you there!*

*I'm a wuss and want to watch it during the day. I had my face buried in the sofa the whole time. Wait until the weekend. Jon is not amused.

Those prints came out superbly! You are truly inspiring.
Lemonheads...the boys love them and I always used them to quell morning sickness. Yum!

Glad to hear the day was sort of good after all.
I won't watch No Country For Old Men at all. I keep telling my husband that I will have nightmares. I Honestly will. I'm a wuss, too.

I'm such a fan of your work, and those pieces are particularly stunning. It's really great to have an outlet to channel our emotions.

To answer your question, I have a 3.5 yo daughter and a 6 mo baby boy. They are great and a lot of work!

Beautiful new prints and I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Hope you're all doing ok. I haven't seen the film and not sure I will from the sounds of it!

It is a fantastic movie. I feel that I can say that even though I didn't finish watching it. But I love the Cohen brothers and while I know they have had a couple of misses I could tell this was not one of them.

But the bad guy scares me senseless. I mean he is really crazy scary. Robert Mitchem in Night of the Hunter looks like the nicest guy in the world next to him. *shudder*

Honestly I would never start with the big Gocco. You are going to spend a fortune on supplies alone with the big one. It uses twice as many bulbs and those are used once per burn. Mine uses two, the big one uses four. I think an eight pack costs $16!

Really it is only for the hardcore Gocco people like HeatherJeany.

You can get the small model for around $100- $150 with some ink, screens and bulbs. Look up printaddict/ printaddictjapan. She's on Etsy and Ebay and is a big Gocco seller.

I'm glad you like the sketchbook! :)

And thanks to all for the well wishes and support. I think I am getting better at coping with setbacks. And I will be seeing my friend for the first time since I found out about the cancer on Sunday. I think we are having Easter dinner at their house.

Thanks so much for the well wishes and prayers for him and his family. It means a lot.
