Buttons!
Nothing against the buttons I had made by others reproducing my original works but these buttons I made while at Etsy are so much cooler! I only had one older print that I was willing to sacrifice to make into buttons on me but I cut it up into little circles and used their 1" button maker to make just under 30 one of a kind buttons! They have a texture that the ones printed on a laserjet just don't have since they are made with my actual print paper. I found myself playing with them during much of the drive back to Boston and I ended up caving and buying my own machine on Ebay today! I don't know how much printing I am going to be able to do in a month or two when I am huge and it is hot but as long as I have art scraps and cool papers I can always make buttons!
I had a ton of fun while in Brooklyn visiting Etsy and Chuck and Linda. The people at the Etsy Labs are super nice and it was good to meet people and see some familiar faces again. I just hope that I am able to go back next month! The workshop went well but I ended up standing and walking around so much during it that by the time it was over my poor pregnant ankles were swollen and sore. I could barely walk for the rest of the evening. But after a good nights sleep I was pretty much recovered.
Jon fell in love with Brooklyn (it was his first time there) and we fantasized about moving into a smaller place there and having my studio at the Labs to save on rent. Too bad that is not going to happen since we are far to settled here.

I'm so glad to hear the Etsy project went off so well, Marissa... Congratulations!
Ooh, those are so pretty. Does a button machine make magnets too?
It does, but the magnet supplies are wicked expensive (at least compared to the pinback supplies) and I haven't ordered any yet. But I think I will when I can!
