Making Things Right

A long time ago, when I was just starting to get into woodblock printing and was doing portraits almost exclusively a friend hired me to do a portrait of her ferret. Well, when it came time for her to pay me and for me to give her the prints she was nowhere to be found. I haven't spoken to her since. I put the prints and the blocks in storage for months until somebody told me that I should try selling the prints on Etsy, and one was bought! This print will be going to a girl in Alaska. I still have the block so I can make as many as I want, even doing colors on demand. The wound of having my time wasted by somebody that was supposed to be my friend is a little bit better after this sale.

Today I am babysitting all day and won't be able to work on art in any way. I listed a bunch this morning, getting my stuff in early since I can't spread it out.

It's a beautiful print, Marissa... As much as I love your layered work, I also enjoy your more traditional woodcuts.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. Your print is beautiful. (gee...what a surprise. [Snicker], your work is a total bright spot in every day that I see it!)

I'm wondering if this will bring your 'friend' to the surface with some apologies.

Have a playful day while babysitting.

Your ex-friend seems to have inadvertantly done you a very large kindness. It's funny how these things work out, but in this case it seems it was for the best, despite losing a friend. Some friends are not meant to be forever, and her vacating space in your life may have made room for someone else who is a forever friend. A little philosophy for your day!
