Thirty weeks

My sleeping is getting worse and worse as I progress into the pregnancy. The only way for me to settle down asleep and stay asleep for a few weeks has been to take some Tylenol PM that my mid wife approved. Lately that just hasn't been enough for me, in some respects it makes it worse. These past two nights I have woken up in the middle of the night with stomach acid so bad I thought I was going to throw up. I thought I had prevented this last night by taking two zantax before bed but it still happened worse than the night before! And to be groggy from the Tylenol on top of the pain stunk because I wanted nothing more than to go back to sleep but I had to stay upright and focus on not puking.

At least I managed to not puke, though I don't know how I managed to pull that off!

So I sleep poorly and wake up feeling like a zombie. Right now that is how I am feeling as I write this. I wanted to write earlier, in fact I considered writing when I was up at 4am trying to keep from not puking up stomach acid but I was way too out of it to do anything productive.

I'm going to make a pot of tea and try and wake myself up so I can get stuff done today.

With the way I have been feeling going to Brooklyn and the Etsy party was not an appealing option. It would probably have been a repeat of the last party in February minus the throwing up. Me looking like death warmed over lying sprawled on the sofa all night waiting to go back to the hotel. And while I would love to check out the Renegade Craft Fair
walking around even in this cool weather for a long period of time sounds like a good way to get my ankles all swollen.

Speaking of cool weather we have been sleeping with a comforter and I have been wearing a light jacket when I go out lately. It is very nice. Is anybody else having this fall like break in the heat?

I think I am going to go driving for the first time in five years this weekend. Wish me luck.

Hey Marissa - how miserable you sound! I'm glad you are getting the lovely cold weather, too. The whippets think it is too cold but they are heat vampires.

As for the acid stomach have you tried drinking a tablespoonful of apple cider when you have a sour tummy? I know it sounds counter-intuitive but it really works for *me*. When I first swallow it it can be a little exciting (don't breathe it in), but once it is in it calms things right down. A little honey makes it easier to swallow, but the cider works fine without it.

Thanks annie! I may have to try it the next time I have a problem though I rarely have cider in the house when it isn't in season.

Doh! I meant to write apple cider *vinegar*! I am sure apple cider would be pleasant, but it is the acid in the vinegar that stops the acid stomach. Cider vinegar works best, but in emergencies I have used balsamic vinegar, rice wine vinegar, and the juice from a jar of pickles...

Oh good we actually have that in the house already. It is pretty strong stuff. Did you water it down at all?

The past two nights I have been okay.

No, I don't water it down which is what makes it exciting when you first swallow it. Taking it full strength gets it over with faster. Do be sure not to breathe in when you have it in your mouth as your lungs will NOT be happy.

I actually tried this in desperation one night when I had heartburn and nothing in the house to make it go away. I was watching one of those weird 4 am infomercials because I couldn't sleep and the guy touting his book started ranting about cider vinegar being a cure-all for just about everything from hangnails to leprosy. He mentioned heartburn/acid reflux, I thought "what do I have to lose?", and it really worked! I didn't buy the book, though.

Sounds to me as if the baby has got you in training for all those nights you're going to be waking up to keep baby happy!

So far my acid has been much better these last few days. Knock on the wood that I have plenty of lying around.
