This is the last of these trees (I believe). I have a few more random pieces to list on Etsy here and there, but what I am going to concentrate on now is regrouping and finding my love for art again. I am not having fun anymore. I feel that I am too focused on sales and that isn't why I make art. Lots of sales validate me, but I need to find validation in the work itself. I need to start experimenting again to make things fresh and challenging. I need to get serious about looking for galleries and I need to keep working even if I don't really feel motivated to do so.
I am going back to portraits for a little while because that is what this all started and they are good practice. I also need to stop being so scared of monotypes because they are hard and really pour myself into them. Maybe play with stencils a bit. Maybe the results won't work at first, but I need to learn to be fine with that and keep going until I am happy with the results. I am not a factory and this is not a craft and I don't want it to become one, I believe that is where I was heading.

I like the colors on this one. Subtle. Looking forward to seeing your portraits. 8-]
I'm glad to hear you'll be doing more portrait work... they are strong and impressive!
The lucky things is - you're good at all of it. Honing your craft, in either medium or subject, is a constant, so bravo to that. Not so much as a single road to walk, but more of a whole map to explore. We'll be watching and rah-rah-ing you on...
Hi Marissa,
This sounds exciting! Yes, follow the fun, follow the creative energy, follow the heart. You've had a great adventure already and there's so much more ahead.
It sounds like you need to work more on process as opposed to product. That's something that expressive arts therapy stresses.. i heard it so often over the past two months. I still like product though :)
my point is that you need to do what is best for you, and if that means fewer sales, then i support you in that!
